Shopping a brand at Derby or Hartford

Stock moves through the day, so the live menu is where you confirm a brand before you head out. Some brands span several formats, and the registry lists AGL products as flower, vape cartridges, pre-rolls and edibles. To compare brands within one format, the flower aisle, the vape aisle and the edibles aisle pull every brand's live items from the store you have selected. Current offers sit on our deals page. To ask about a brand before you visit, call us at 860-420-BUDS (2837), and more answers about visiting and ordering are on our FAQ page.
Our Derby store is at 90 Pershing Dr and our Hartford store is at 306 Market St, and both are open 7 days a week. For more on each store, see the Derby store page, the Hartford store page or our locations page. Both stores take cash and debit cards, credit cards cannot be used, and the Derby store has an on-site ATM.
Why a brand name on the menu does not tell you who made it
We prioritize products from licensed Connecticut cultivators and processors, so who grew a product matters to us as much as it does to you. The front of the package does not always settle it. A brand is a name, and the company that grew or processed the product can be a different business, sometimes one that bought the brand's original maker.
The state's cannabis product registry, published on its open data site, lists a producer beside each registered product. A few brands on our shelves show why that record is worth a look:
- The registry lists the Simsbury grower as the producer of registered Select products, and it also lists Advanced Grow Labs among registrants of some products with Select in the name.
- One producer is listed for most registered Earl Baker flower, and other Earl Baker products are registered to three more producers, SoundView among them.
- The registry lists one producer for most Coast Cannabis Co. edibles, and other Coast Cannabis Co. products are registered under a second.
- Camino gummies are registered under a different company's name, while Kiva Confections lists Camino among its product lines on its own website.
2019 and 2020: Advanced Grow Labs and Grassroots change hands
In January 2019, Green Thumb Industries agreed to acquire Advanced Grow Labs, the company known as AGL. AGL operates a 41,000 square foot manufacturing facility in West Haven, and the Hartford Business Journal described AGL at the time as one of just four Connecticut companies licensed to grow and process cannabis.
Today the registry lists Advanced Grow Labs as the producer of registered AGL, RYTHM, Dogwalkers and Good Green products. Green Thumb Industries lists RYTHM, Dogwalkers and Good Green among its brands on its brand overview page. Our pages for AGL, RYTHM, Dogwalkers and Good Green show each brand's items on your store's menu.
Grassroots changed hands the following year. According to a Curaleaf press release, the company completed its acquisition of Grassroots on July 23, 2020. The registry now lists Curaleaf as the producer of registered Grassroots products, and that same press release names Select as a Curaleaf brand. Our Grassroots page shows the Grassroots items on your store's menu.
The original Connecticut growers and what the registry lists today
The Hartford Business Journal named Curaleaf in Simsbury as one of Connecticut's four original legal marijuana growers. The same paper described Theraplant in 2021 as one of the state's four legal marijuana growers.
Theraplant describes its products as locally grown Connecticut cannabis on its own website. The same paper reported that Theraplant operates a 68,000 square foot cultivation and processing facility at 856 Echo Lake Road in Watertown.
One more detail matters if you shop by that name. The registry lists the same producer for registered Theraplant products, Flow State flower products and all:hours products, so those three names lead back to a single registrant.
BRIX, SoundView and Lucky Break: smaller in-state makers
In August 2024, the Hartford Business Journal reported that Brix Cannabis launched a micro cultivation facility in New Britain, and our BRIX page shows the BRIX items on your store's menu.
SoundView and Lucky Break are two more in-state makers on our shelves. SoundView comes from Bristol: the same paper described Bristol based SoundView as one of Connecticut's first cannabis infused food and beverage manufacturers, and the registry lists SoundView products as edibles and vape cartridges.
Lucky Break describes itself as a homegrown Connecticut company, and its website footer lists Bridgeport as its location. Its website lists products including Lucky Honey, Lucky Vapes and Lucky Chews.
Our own Drink Hi! and our founder's LIFTD
Drink Hi! is our own hemp-infused seltzer line, and the Derby live menu lists it in Blueberry Lemon, Grapefruit Blood Orange and Dragon Fruit Lime. LIFTD sodas come in Blue Rizz, Grape, Just Orange and Punch.
On September 28, 2026, the Hartford Business Journal reported that Hi! People THC beverages are manufactured at CT Canning, the contract beverage operation of Black Hog Brewing in Oxford. The same report said LIFTD, a THC infused beverage brand, is made by CT Canning too, and it quoted David Salinas as the founder of LIFTD and Hi! People.
LIFTD has no brand page here, so look for it in the drinks aisle, which lists the beverages on your selected store's menu.
Questions shoppers ask about these brands
Does one company make several of these brands?
Yes. Four brands on our shelves, AGL, RYTHM, Dogwalkers and Good Green, share one registered producer in West Haven, and the Watertown grower's brand, Flow State and all:hours share another. The Simsbury grower is the registered producer of Grassroots and Select, though some products with Select in the name are registered to that West Haven producer.
Are the brands at Hi! People made in Connecticut?
Many are: one grows in Watertown, AGL makes products in West Haven, BRIX in New Britain and SoundView in Bristol, and Lucky Break lists Bridgeport as its home.
