What a first visit looks like, from the door to the register
Where are the stores, and is there parking?
Our Derby store, the original location, is at 90 Pershing Dr, Derby, CT 06418, just off Route 8 at northbound Exit 13A, with free on-site parking, and our Hartford store is at 306 Market St, Hartford, CT 06120, with free on-site parking and CT Transit bus access. Both stores are open 7 days a week, and each has its own page: our original store and our Hartford store.
What happens after I walk in?
Have your photo ID out at the door at either store. In Derby, hosts with iPads help you browse the menu and put your order together, and if you would rather talk it over first, take a seat at the Bud Bar.
To look over what we carry before you drive over, start on our online shop. Our guide to a first visit at a Connecticut cannabis store walks through the same steps in more detail.
ID, residency and the medical card
Do I need a medical card to shop here?
No. Both of our stores are adult-use cannabis retailers, and the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) says registration is not required to buy in the adult-use market, which serves adults 21 years of age or older. Our post on whether you need a medical card in Connecticut explains how the medical program and the adult-use market differ.
Can I buy with an out-of-state ID?
Yes. DCP says any adult 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID may buy from a licensed adult-use retailer regardless of state of residence. Visitors also pay the same state and local taxes as Connecticut residents, and the same 1.5 oz possession limit applies to them.
DCP sets this out in its knowledge-base answer for out-of-state buyers, and our post on whether out-of-state residents can buy weed in Connecticut covers the practical side.
What ID counts as proof of age?
Under CGS chapter 420h, a person 21 or older may use a motor vehicle operator's license or an identity card with a full-face photograph as legal proof of age, and each licensee may accept it. If your ID is a different document, call us before you make the trip. Since October 1, 2026, a retailer may not keep the personal data it collects from you for age verification for longer than 24 hours without your express written consent.
What one visit can buy and what you can carry
How much can I buy in one day?
Adults 21 and older can buy one ounce of cannabis, or the equivalent in other products, per day. State law bars a retailer from knowingly selling a consumer more than one ounce of cannabis or the equivalent in products per day, and DCP states the limit is one ounce per day per customer regardless of the number of transactions. Our guide to eighth, quarter and half-ounce weights shows how flower sizes add up.
How much can I carry once I leave?
If you are 21 or older, you can carry 1.5 ounces of cannabis plant material on your person, and keep five ounces locked up at home or in your vehicle. The state limits by location:
| Where the cannabis is | Legal limit |
|---|---|
| On your person | 1.5 ounces of plant material |
| In a locked container at your residence, or in a locked glove box or trunk of your vehicle | five ounces of plant material |
Our page on Connecticut cannabis possession limits covers the concentrate and edible equivalents, and anyone driving home should read driving and cannabis in the state first.
How to pay, and what the receipt adds up to
Can I pay with a credit card?
No. We take cash and debit cards at both stores, and credit cards cannot be used. Our original store has an on-site ATM if you need cash before you reach the register.
What taxes are added at the register?
Three taxes apply to each adult-use sale, according to the Department of Revenue Services:
- Statewide cannabis tax: a flat 10.75% of gross receipts, effective October 1, 2026, per DRS.
- State sales and use tax: 6.35%, per DRS.
- Municipal cannabis tax: 3.0% of gross receipts, per DRS.
In the state's example, a $22.00 sale carries $1.40 in sales tax, $0.66 in municipal tax and $2.37 in statewide cannabis tax, for a total of $26.43. For the full breakdown, read how the state's cannabis tax works.
Do you have rewards or deals?
Yes. We run a points program, and the rewards change and differ by store, so check our deals page or ask at the register.
Pickup, delivery and the New Haven opening
Can I order ahead for pickup?
Yes. Our online ordering is open 24/7, and both stores offer pickup. Bring the same photo ID you would show on a walk-in visit.
Do you deliver?
From Derby, yes. Its live menu takes scheduled delivery orders, and checkout shows the minimum, fee and delivery slot. For Hartford, plan on in-store pickup and let checkout tell you whether delivery reaches your address. Only the adult who placed the order, 21 or older with matching ID, can accept it, and the driver must verify your identity and age before handing over the order. See our delivery page and guide to cannabis delivery in Connecticut.
When does the New Haven store open?
Our New Haven store at 1041 State St is coming soon, with the same Bud Bar experience as Derby. To hear when it opens, sign up for New Haven opening news, and see the New Haven store page for what we have shared so far.
The Bud Bar
What is the Bud Bar, and do I need an appointment?
The Bud Bar is a dedicated consultation area toward the back of our Derby showroom, where you sit down one on one with a budtender and can view and smell strains before you buy. There is no appointment to book. The Hartford Business Journal reported in March 2025 that our original store opened the state's first bud bar.
Before your first sit-down, read what to expect at the Bud Bar, and get directions to both stores.
