The drive to Hi! People Derby
Traffic on a busy afternoon adds time. Parking is free and on site once you arrive.
Drivers who end up on Route 8 northbound leave at exit 13A, signed for Pershing Drive and Ansonia. Connecticut DOT began installing mileage-based exit number signs on Route 8 on July 8, 2024, so older directions may show it as exit 16, and the DOT's exit renumbering notice explains the change. It is a northbound exit and southbound entrance, and the ramp is under a fifth of a mile from our door.
The exit itself sits in Ansonia, and the Ansonia page covers that side of the trip. For the highway as a whole, our page on the Route 8 corridor lays out the stretch around the store.
Where the city sits and what it has locally
The city, incorporated in 1789 and part of the Naugatuck Valley Planning Region, had an estimated 42,805 residents in 2024 on 30.6 square miles of land, according to the Census Bureau.
On the Housatonic River, Indian Well State Park at 1 Indian Well Road has a sandy beach, a waterfall and the only public boat launch on the river, according to the state's park page. Veterans Memorial Park on Canal Street sits along the same river and was founded to honor the men and women who served in the military, as the city's Riverwalk page notes.
The Belden Cultural Center at 54 Grove Street is a city building that houses Center Stage Theatre among its tenants.
Why the nearest store is ours

Order ahead, pick up at the counter
Our online ordering is open 24/7, so you can place the order on our online shop from home and collect it in the store during store hours. If you would rather decide on the spot, hosts with iPads help you browse the menu and order.
We accept cash and debit cards, and credit cards cannot be used. If you are short on cash, there is an on-site ATM.
If you would rather have it brought to Shelton
Our delivery service page lists your city among the towns our Derby store serves. Our delivery runs on a schedule rather than on demand, so you choose a delivery slot at checkout, and checkout also shows the order minimum and fee for your address. We accept payment at the door in cash or debit card.
The same list includes Trumbull and Seymour, and we keep separate pages for shoppers in Trumbull and shoppers in Seymour.
Questions we hear from shoppers here
Can I see and smell the flower before I buy?
Yes. Our Bud Bar lets you view and smell cannabis strains before purchasing. It is toward the back of the showroom, needs no appointment, and our post on what to expect at the Bud Bar walks through a visit.
Who can accept a delivery?
Only the adult who placed the order, 21 or older with matching ID, can accept it under Connecticut law. Have the ID ready when the driver arrives.
For anything else, our general questions page has more, or call us at 860-420-BUDS (2837). When you are ready, start a pickup order on our live menu.
